About Alam Asia Net

Welcome!
Alam Asia net has been created to introduce and connect you to special places, people and their projects I have come to know in my more than 20 years of living and exploring in Asia.

Travel for me is about gaining a deeper understanding- to feel a true sense of a place.
In this globalized world, one can still feel a sense of timelessness in Asia. Each day can be full of so many impressions- meeting people, visiting special and sacred places and flowing with the rhythm of life.

During the years when I first came to Bali, the pace of life was much slower. It was a time I will always be grateful for- a time of being immersed into the daily life of Bali with its rich cultural traditions and spiritual connections. In the artistic center of Ubud, a small family run hotel called Alam Indah became my home. Alam means nature and Indah means beautiful in Indonesian.
Alam Indah is one of these special places in the world where you are embraced by the kindness of the family and staff-  a wonderful base to learn more about Bali and Indonesia.

Southeast Asia has so many fascinating places to explore. And to understand more about their cultural connections, their ancient, recent, glorious, and turbulent pasts. I have been touched by the stories, traditions, struggles and achievements of the many people I have been fortunate to meet and work with.  People honoring the past while embracing the present. People dedicated to projects for sustainable livelihood, a brighter future and cultural well being. Tourism has become a great force of economic and social development in both negative and positive ways. However with a growing shift in consciousness, continued mindful and responsible tourism can open more eyes and create more understanding and peace.

May each Journey be a journey of a lifetime that also makes a lifetime difference to others.

I hope you will enjoy browsing through this site which I try to update as much as I can.
With all best wishes on your own Asia Journeys.
